We don't have Mediterranean weather in the UK but I still find it hard getting my make-up to stay put!
There are a lot of factors that you'll need to take into account when thinking about creating long lasting make-up. For starters; What skin type do you have? What make-up do you use to work with your make-up? Are you getting the most out of your skincare and make-up?
Treating your skin
Making sure you prep your skin is probably the most important step. If your skin is dry and flaky it will show up when you put on your foundation. If your skin is oily the foundation won't adhere to your skin and will end up rubbing off on your glasses, hands and on others ... not a nice at all. This can also occur if you use too much make-up.
Always make sure you start with clean skin. So wash, cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise. You can chose a skincare range from Avon Solutions for your particular skin type.
Priming your skin
Some may think that using a primer is a waste of time but they couldn't be more wrong. Your skin care will treat your skin problems it won't create a 'level playing field' to then apply your make-up.
Both the Anew Beauty Skin Transforming Primer and the MagiX Face Perfector will cover imperfections, minimise the look of pores and in general help create the perfect canvas to then begin applying your make-up.
Start at the centre of the face and work outwards. A little goes a long way.
Choosing a foundation
Avon has several foundations for various skin types ranging from light to medium to heavy coverage. Calming Effects Mattifying Foundation is a light coverage foundation for oily/combination skin. Bright Start Fresh Look Foundation has a medium coverage that's packed with nutrients to give skin an instant boost. Calming Effects Loose Powder Foundation has a buildable coverage and the Ideal Flawless Coverage Foundation is the heaviest full coverage.
Whether you use a liquid or powder foundation fear not you can still achieve a glowing complexion without looking sweaty or cakey.
Setting your make-up
To set your make-up means to lock it in so that it doesn't budge. Sweeping a translucent powder down the centre of the face can help keep that sweaty brow and upper lip at bay. Some foundations may dry in a powder like texture therefore you wouldn't need to use a powder.
Remember to sweep some under the eyes especially if you've concealed any under eye bags or on any blemishes.
Bronzer and blush
As we've mentioned before you can use powder, pearls or cream product to create depth and dimension. A bronzer will warm up your face and create depth. A blush will bring colour back into your face and a highlighter will give you dimension.
Rule of thumb is to run your bronzer in a '3' shape. Start at the temple, follow the hair line to the back of the cheekbones, run under the cheekbones, come back in and then run along the jawline and underneath if necessary. You can then go back in and blend a bit more to soften any hard edges.
Once you've run your bronzer in the '3' shape anything left over on your brush you can run in the centre of your face and on your neck and décolletage.
Run blush along the apple of your cheeks, where you normally flush, to bring colour back into your face. You can go for a pinkish colour or a darker coral coloured blush. All depending on the look you're trying to create.
Eyes
If you have oily lids you can opt to use a Eyeshadow Primer. It will help your eyeshadow stick better also meaning it won't smudge or crease. Keeping it simple use an eyeliner that has staying power and a mascara that won't budge.
Avon's Mega Effects Eye liner has an intense formula designed to last all day. The best thing about this nifty eyeliner is its unique shape. Thick or thin or both it's angled just like an eyeliner brush. Pair it with SuperExtend Winged Out Mascara designed with a smudge free formula.
Lips
Even if you do keep your eyes quite basic with a simple eyeliner you can always have fun with a spunky lip colour. For more bold colours we'd recommend using a lip liner to draw out your desired lip shape and fill. Apply the first layer of lipstick, blot and then apply a second to help your lip colour last longer.
Avon's specifically designed a lipstick for selfie lovers featured in MyDaily as the #nofilter lipstick. So whether you go nude or bright you can't go wrong with a selfie loving lipstick.
So that is the run down of how to achieve long-lasting make-up. Be ready this summer whether you're working, running some errands, going to parties or hitting the seaside.
